Last updated: September 4, 2026
1. Introduction
Fmovies ("we", "our", or "the app") is a movie discovery application. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices available to you.
By using the app you agree to this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Data Stored On Your Device
- Watchlist, favorites, custom lists, reviews and ratings: stored locally using Hive. Never transmitted to our servers.
- Settings and preferences: theme choice, onboarding state, and reward state, stored locally using SharedPreferences.
- Release reminders: scheduled locally on your device.
2.2 Data Collected Automatically
The app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Google AdMob, which collect data automatically, including:
- Device and app information: device model, operating system version, app version, language, and country/region.
- Advertising identifier: your Android Advertising ID (AAID), used for ad delivery and measurement.
- Usage events: screens viewed, searches performed, movies opened, watchlist changes, and trailer plays.
- Ad interaction events: ad impressions, clicks, ad format, placement, and estimated ad revenue.

https://policies.google.com/privacy5. Advertising and Your Choices
The app displays ads supplied by Google AdMob.
Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
Where required, we present a Google-certified consent message (UMP) before serving personalised ads. You may accept or decline personalised advertising. Where a consent form applies, you can change your choice at any time via Settings → Legal → Ad Privacy Options.
Opting out of personalised ads
On Android you can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time: Settings → Privacy → Ads. Ads will still appear, but will be less relevant to you.
Rewarded ads
Watching a rewarded ad is always optional and user-initiated. Rewards (such as a temporary ad-free period) are stored only on your device.
6. Legal Bases (EEA/UK Users)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Consent — for personalised advertising and analytics, obtained via the consent message.
- Legitimate interests — for app security, fraud prevention, and basic operation.
You may withdraw consent at any time via Settings → Legal → Ad Privacy Options.
7. Data Retention
Local data (watchlist, favorites, lists, reviews, settings) persists until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. Data held by Google is retained according to Google’s own retention policies, which are described in the links in section 4.
8. Children’s Privacy
The app enforces include_adult: false on all content queries. The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will address it.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to processing or request portability. Local app data can be cleared at any time from within the app or via your device settings. For requests concerning data held by Google, use the controls linked in section 4 or contact us.
10. Data Security
- All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS
- Release builds are obfuscated
- API keys are supplied via environment configuration, not hard-coded in source
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated in the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
