Privacy Policy
Movierulz (com.movierulz.seriesandtv.app) · Last updated 3 October 2026
Movierulz is a movie discovery and review app. This policy explains what the app stores on your device, what it shares with third-party services, and the choices available to you.
1. Information stored on your device
The following is saved only on your device. It is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your watchlist (movie IDs, titles, posters, ratings, dates added) | So saved movies are available, including offline |
| Recent searches | To suggest your previous searches |
| Onboarding completion | So the introduction is not shown again |
| First-launch time and whether a review was requested | So the Google Play review prompt is requested only once |
| Notification prompt status | So the permission is requested only once |
| Cached movie images and data | To reduce data use and loading times |
2. Information collected by third-party services
Movierulz does not operate its own servers. The services below run inside the app and handle data under their own privacy policies.
Google AdMob (advertising)
The app is free and supported by advertising. AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, approximate location derived from your IP address, and ad interaction data in order to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where you have allowed them.
- Where required by law (for example in the EEA and UK), you are asked for advertising consent when you first open the app.
- You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads on some devices).
- How Google uses information from apps that use its services
Firebase Analytics (Google)
Analytics helps us understand how the app is used so we can improve it. Along with standard information such as device model, operating system version, country and an app instance identifier, the app records these events:
- Movies you open (the movie's TMDB ID and title)
- Terms you type into search
- Trailers you open and movies you add to your watchlist (by TMDB ID)
- Whether ads were requested and shown
Because the app has no accounts, this information is not linked to your name, email address or phone number.
Firebase Crashlytics (Google)
If the app crashes, Crashlytics sends a report containing the error, the device model and the operating system version. It is used only to find and fix faults.
Firebase Remote Config (Google)
The app downloads its settings (for example, how often ads are shown) from Remote Config. The request identifies the app installation but contains no personal information.
TMDB (The Movie Database)
Movie information, artwork, cast details and reviews are requested from the TMDB API. When you search, your search term is sent to TMDB to find matching movies. These requests include your IP address, as any internet request does. Movierulz does not send TMDB your watchlist or any other information about you.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. TMDB privacy policy
YouTube (trailers)
Trailers are hosted on YouTube. Opening a trailer hands it to the YouTube app, or to your browser if YouTube is not installed, where Google's privacy policy applies.
Google Play (in-app review)
The app may ask Google Play to show its standard rating prompt. Google decides whether the prompt appears, and Movierulz is not told what you rate or write.
3. Permissions
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Internet and network state | To load movie information, images and ads |
| Notifications | Optional. To tell you about new releases, reviews and watchlist reminders. The app works fully without it, and it is requested only once. |
4. Your choices
- Notifications — turn them on or off at any time in your device's app settings.
- Ad personalisation — change it in your device's ad settings, or reset your advertising ID.
- Advertising consent — where a consent form was shown, you can change your choice by clearing the app's storage, which shows the form again on the next launch.
- Stored data — clearing the app's storage or uninstalling removes your watchlist, searches and settings permanently.
5. Children
Movierulz is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Movie information comes from TMDB and may include titles intended for adult audiences.
6. Data retention and security
Data on your device remains until you delete it. Data held by Google and TMDB is retained under their own policies. Because Movierulz has no account system and no server, there is no profile of you for us to store, expose or delete.
7. Streaming
Movierulz is a discovery and review app. It does not host, stream, download or provide access to films. The Watch button opens a film's official trailer on YouTube.
8. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the app develops. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.
